After our successful Japan-tour in May, Mir's long awaited new release MIR – S/T out now as a co-release of Wallace Records (Italy), Savage Land Records (France) and Atreeinafield Records (CH)! A couple of intense tracks recorded live at Dachstock Reitschule Bern, recorded and produced by Alex Buess and mastered in the US by Weasel Walter (Flying Lutenbachers) available as CD version or limited edition double 12'' maxi with handmade screenprint covers.
Another new and incredibly exclusive track by MIR was recently released on the "Bass and Drum Compilation" (for more info see www.saeure.ch/bassndrum.html) in which we explore the sonic characteristics of a large balinesian gong and two bass guitars.Next to this MIR also appeared on the Test Tone-Sampler from the Test Tone-concert series in Tokyo with a life-track from our concert at Super Deluxe in Tokyo, for more infos check http://www.soundispatch.com/ttsnews/test-tone-cds/test-tone-anthology-disc-3/
B&B have a hard working summer behind them, 7 concerets in Korea and Japan together with clarinet player Toshiko Sakakibara in July/August, collaborations in Korea with percussion ensemble 4Plus. The korean musicians will visit Switzerland in February and play four concerts with us in several Swiss Cities.
Also Daniel's collaboration with australian sound-artist James Hullick under the name Buggatronic will go on, a short tour with a few exclusive concerts in Europe in April 2010 is currently in preparation.
CORTEX' new release is finished and will be out soon on Praxis Records. Some new live-dates are currently in preparation.
HOW2 is still working on the exciting project "RIND"with amplified animal skins, a collaboration with PEZ (Peter Conradin Zumthor). We are working with big skins of cows and one deer which we mount on frames and big metal-containers. The first show with this brand new material happened at "Soundhund" in Chur (Switzerland) on January 24 2009. Further performances for 2010 are currently in preparation. More infos and pictures soon!
Release of the book "Zbigniew Karkowski, Physique Sonore" realized and published by the Lausanne Underground Film and Music Festival and Groupe de la Riponne as the first volume of the collection Rip on/ off. Texts edited and translated by Christian Indermuhle and Thibault Walter, the book contains collaborations with Nikola Mounoud, Boris Wlassof, Fernando Sixto, Guy-Marc Hinant, Naut Humon for texts ; Julien Notter and Sébastien Vignefor the graphics.This first book comes with a cd on which an original piecework callled "form and disposition" by Zbigniew Karkowski is recorded. It is interpreted by himself and Daniel Buess and was performed live on 17th October 08 at Salle des Fêtes of the casino de Montbenon durin the LUFF-Festival 08. http://www.luff.ch/en/publishing/karkowski
"Physiques sonores" (by at Metamkine)
Daniel's recent collaboration with Basel based artist Saskia Edens "à contre courant", a sound-performance with an amplified home-trainer, was presented at a performance-event at Kunsthaus Baselland, curated by Kunstkredit Basel, and at a very special space on the countryside in Alsace (France). In January it will be performed again at a performance-festival at Usine, Geneva. About dates, please check concerts/dates.
Ensemble Phoenix Basel is still working on the online-label "United Phoenix Records" (site under construction!), most of the numerous high quality-live-recordings made by the mighty Alex Buess will be downloadable. The site should be ready by the end of this year. Phoenix will celebrate its 10-years aniversary with a special concert on december 10,13 and 14 in Bern and Basel!! Daniel Buess, Christoph Bösch, Jürg Henneberger and Thomas Peter will present two new works by Alex Buess and Knut Remond in Collaboration and participation of the two composers/musicians as well a performance of Bernard Parmegiani's electroacoustic classic "De Natura Sonorum" (1975). On december 14, we are proud to be able to announce a very special concert of the american noise-group Borbetomagus during their 30th anniversary-tour, they will play after the Phoenix-concert around 22.30. more infos
